Going Above and Beyond
At the drive-thru, I receive my bag of Spicy Chicken Deluxe Sandwich and soda and say thank you to the young man. (I say young man now because I’m old.) He says, “It’s my pleasure.” He says it like he means it.
I put my foot to the gas to go and then break, realizing I left without the change from my ten. I look in the rearview and see that the car behind me also moved up, and so consequently, I cannot back up. I open my car door to get out to walk the five steps or so inside the tight driveway, but I stop short, as I see the same young man climbing super-hero-like through the drive-thru window to bring me my change. He popped up, he popped in, he popped out, no sweat.
For the haters, it’s not often I eat fast food, so back off. 😉 Don’t miss the forest for the fries, here. My point is this young man went way above and beyond. And it sure seemed like it was his pleasure to do so.
